Do you love supporting people with developmental disability?
Tessellate is a small disability support organisation with a strong focus on young people (13- 30) with developmental needs such as autism or mild intellectual disabilities. We don’t typically support people with physical disabilities and our clients do not need direct support showering or using the toilet. By focusing our training, experience, and expertise on young people with developmental needs, we can provide highly skilled and targeted supports that are life-changing and life-affirming.
About the Role:
As a Tessellate Disability Support Worker, you will have a range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. This includes participating in recreational programs, aiding individuals in enhancing their independent living abilities, and supporting case managers in their client advocacy and management responsibilities. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring precise and up-to-date documentation of client cases.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable working with challenging behaviours, and possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. You should also be able to implement support plans to empower participants to live a meaningful life. It makes a big difference if you are confident, proactive, engaging, and adaptable in your interaction with the participant. This role requires you to have the ability to work autonomously and understand the importance of appropriate risk management and reporting, at the same time as having the ability to communicate and work well as part of a team.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must pass a National Police Clearance check and NDIS Screening Check and hold a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check. Applicants need to hold a valid Tasmanian driver’s license and have the legal right to work in Australia. In addition you will need a current First Aid and CPR certificate.

A Certificate III in Disability Support or Certificate IV/Diploma in Community Services, is required, however this can be started or completed while working for us. Other formal qualifications will also be considered.
We are excited to get to know you and look forward to the potential
of you joining our passionate team.
